Religion Project Reflection
For my religion I choose to study the Rastafarian Movement. I picked the Rastafarian Movement because it was different from the other religions that people picked to study. At first I thought it was going to be hard to work all by myself but I ended up having a pretty easy four weeks. I felt like I got a very substantial amount for the four weeks we worked on it and I learned a lot of information that I would not have know otherwise. I don’t think that this was the most extravagant project I have done but that might have been because of the time frame or that I worked alone.
For my project I made a Model of a Rastafarian temple from cardboard and model magic. I also wrote an essay about the Rastafarian Movement to go along with the model. I spent the first week or so doing my research on a few different sources. I tried to follow my google calender I made for this project but some times I fell a little behind. I follow up to all my expectations in the end and came out with a pretty good. I am very happy with the end product of this project.
My presentation went very smoothly a couldn’t remember a couple fact here and their but otherwise it went well. I don’t think the I am one of the most powerful speakers in the whole class but that might need to be something I will work on. I also wish I would have taken a couple sentences from my essay so I had something to reference back to. Another way I could get better at speaking is to practice in front of a mirror. This is a skill I would like to improve in the next year or so.
In my opinion I think my Renaissance project was better then my religion project. I felt I got a lot more done and I had a lot more facts in the end. As I said before I might not be my fault that it ended up that way. During the last project I worked with my friends Sydney and Tati and we worked very well together so the project went very fast. Even though my project might not have measured up to each other I am still proud of my work.
In the beginning of the project I was studying Historical Catholicism. I picked this religion because I was familiar we it’s beliefs. A class mate of mine told me my project my boring. She said there are tons of other religions in the world, so I googled tons of other religions in the world and one of the items that came up was the Rastafarian Movement. After that I decided to change the religion I was studying to the Rastafarian. I am glad I changed my religion because I feel that I learned a lot more studying a religion that was new to me.
This project being the last big project of the year I think it was a fun way to end the year. I have learned a lot from this project that I can take and bring to my next projects. I picked a topic that gave me a lot of new knowledge and given me a new perspective on the Rastafarian Movement. I loved getting a chance to work by myself for, a four week project. This was wonderful learning experience and I would definitely do it again.
