Project Reflection

For the third project (learning journey) of the year I decided to study famous figures in history and find the flaws in their work. I studied the work of Christopher Columbus, Ronald Reagan and I touched on Abraham Lincoln, I didn’t have time for all of the deep research. Even though this was supposed to be a short project I felt like I didn’t have enough time or I over shot my project. I had already cut out a lot of my project, like I started with five people to study and ended up with three and I barely did that.

This was the first project I have done that was only writing and didn’t have a visual aid. I like having visual aid when I am presenting but I didn’t feel it was necessary for this project. Presenting without visual is a lot different from presenting with visual aid because people are focusing more on you and aren’t being distracted by other elements. My teacher pointed out that the word project gives the impression that there needs to be visual aid so a better name would be learning journey.

When I picked my topic I choose it because it sounded like an interesting point of view to learn about. When I sat down and tried thinking of a project and all I could come up with was writing essays. At first I was worried my presentation was going to be boring, but in the end it only matters what I got out of the project not what other people thought of it.

I’m not sure if I would do I project similar to this one and I don’t know if I want to do another history project this year. We will do one more project this year which is our capstone project, Im going to have a never large visual aid. I like having variety in my project. I am really excited for my capstone. Especially that we get to choose a teacher staff member who share our interests to help us. I think that it will be a good end to my last year here and a creative way to wrap up my time at this school.
