One day, I was sitting under my favorite pear tree, on my favorite hill, at my favorite time of the day (2:37pm) I was reading Beauty and The Beast. It was nothing but a world of absolute peace until something knocked me in the head. It was a rotten pear that had been in the tree to long and had finally gotten so old it fell. If you don’t know all ready when pears get old they get mushy and that mushy pear fell right on my head. After this happened I had to go home and leave my world of perfect peace to get cleaned up. My house was exactly 1 mile, 18 feet and 4 inches from my favorite spot.
My home is an average Palatine, Illinois suburb home. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a bright green front yard with a white picket fence, oh and you can’t forget my flower garden I have had since I was five.
When I got home I laid down my book by the front door and got a wet towel to wipe off my mushy head. When I was clean I went out side to go back up to my hill. I got back up to my hill I saw a small wooden box with a blue swan painted on it. I opened the box and it had a small note in it. The little tiny piece of paper said
“Turn around and follow the rabbit on the ruby trail.”
So I did just what the note said I turned around and there was a snow white rabbit and stunning ruby trail. I followed that trail for about 10 minutes before it lead me into a small brick tunnel under ground. Believe it or not their was a sign in the tunnel clear as crystal that read Jane of the Ruby Trail the weird part is my name is Jane.
I looked down at my feet and I could not believe what was their right before my feet, Two snow white rabbits.
I named the rabbits Tawni and Finn. Like most things in my mind these names came from no were and have no meaning. The rabbits keep a quick past down the Ruby Trail. They finally stopped and after I caught my breath I looked up a saw a small village town a bunch a small elfs hard at work. Some were store owners with table displaying their merchandise and some had cart. There was a bunch of small cottages on the edge of a stream.
Two of the smallest elf came up to me each one grabbed of my hands with a squeeze. I asked them who were they and where was I going. They whispered to me we will tell you when we are safe inside. I asked the two why it would not be safe outside, they did not answer.
Once we fled into a small cottage by the shore with candles as the only light they sat me down a very little chair that I did not fit in.
“ Hello my name is Felix and this is Hank” Felix said
“Hi” Hank replied
“We are so glad you are here, we need you to help us form an army and defeat Henry .” Felix said
“ Who is Hen” I replied but then Hank quickly stopped me.
“We don’t say that name around here” Hank stated
“Well then who is he and why is he so bad?” I rephrased
“ We can’t tell you that we don’t have the right to.” Felix answered
The door swung open and another small elf walked in this time is was a girl. She smaller then all the other elf people. She had rosie cheeks that almost perfectly matched her bright red shoes. She also had a beautiful ruby necklace that was probably made of the rubies from the road.
“So nice to meet you my name is Lila and you must be Jane. No time to waste I need to take you to get ready for the battle.”
After running through a dark forest for a long while we finally came to a black velvet tent. Lila and I stepped in side and no one looked or said a word. I sat in the only open chair at the table and watched lila creep out the opening of the tent. I quickly settled in and began to listen. I soon learned that they were talking about me leading them down the ruby trail to the battle field.
All at once they stood up a nodded to me as if they wanted me to follow them. So I stood up and one handed me the map and gave me directions to another tent.
I stepped out of the tent and as I was about to turn the corner I saw a shadow and just then i new exactly who’s shadow it was. It was Henry.
“Hello their child what are you doing?” He said
“I-I-I” I could not answer I was in so much fear
“Let me see you hand” he responded
Before I could move I swiftly grabbed my hand and told me I would be okay. The next thing I new the lights went black.
When I woke up I saw what I least expected… To be continued

I think our group met our goal for this project. We stayed on our timeline and completed five essays along with five models. My essay was written to the best of capability. I put time, and effort into my research. I think I could have had my essay revised a few more times though.
This project taught me about a medical care was a struggle in the middle ages because of the lack of knowledge and communication between countries. I also learned about the different diseases people and doctors struggled such as Leprosy, Typhus, Measles, Black Plague.
During this project I learned how to build people out of clay. I learned that the proportion of the person is very important or else they might look top heavy. Our group tried to build the models to the best of our abilities and they could have looked better but the clay was cracking. I think I used a large variety of internet sources that I relied on and trusted. My essay included a full bibliography that included all the sources I used. I felt that our time was split in half so that half the group was doing clay while the other group was writing. Charlie really took control for making sure everyone got their essays finished and edited before the due date. I really liked not having to make a video because all of the editing can get confusing in a big group and adding art to the project was really fun also.

Leprosy was a common yet serious disease that reached it’s peaks in the middle ages. Leprosy was first discovered in ancient China, Egypt, India. Leprosy is a disease that permanently mutates your body. Leprosy is not a concern to society today, though that does not mean it doesn’t exist. It is a curable disease but in the middle ages the cure was not effective. In current times leprosy is uncommon in the United States and curable. Leprosy may also be called Hansen’s Disease.
Leprosy is an ancient disease that originated in Ancient China, Egypt, and India some of the first cases dated back to 25 BC. In the middle ages europe where leprosy reached his peaks going through Leprosy was considered going through Purgatory on earth. It has never been positive about how leprosy spreads, some predictions are that it spreads by nasal passages is tight spaces. Leprosy is more common for young people as a long term disease.
Leprosy is caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium Leprae. Mycobacterium Leprae was discovered in Norway in 1873 by a Norwegian Docter. Mycobacterium Leprae beongs to the Mycobateriaceae.

In science we learned about cell division. In follow up to this lesson we did an Onion Root Mitosis lab to see the different steps of cell division. First we dipped the onion root into hydro chloric acid for four minutes and then dipped it into the Carnoy for four minutes. After that you cut a very small piece of the end of the onion root and put a very small drop of blue dye on it and let it set for two minutes then soak up the dye. When you put it under the microscope you can see the stages of mitosis.
At first you could see was blue dots but if you looked closer you could see little nucleuses. Each microscope you could see different stages of mitosis. They all had some similarities but if you looked close enough. I think this was a good experiment and we learned a lot.
